Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

As promised, I have squeezed in some time to write up my experiences yesterday hosting Australia's Biggest Morning Tea along with my mother. Last year marked the beginning of our venture to fundraise for causes we valued. Seeing as cancer touches the lives of many, we thought that raising money for the Cancer Council was definitely a good idea.

This year, mum and I aspired to create a 'high tea' setting, and to make the fundraiser a little fancy.

In order to do so we purchased little cakes from our local patisserie, as well as cake stands similar to what you would find at places like The Langham.

We weren't strict on who we invited, but rather allowed our guests to bring a friend along, something that really benefited the cause as we ended up raising over $500! That's right; $500!

We did this by holding a raffle on the day- mum and I donated three $30 gift vouchers; two for Village Cinemas and one for Dusk. We also were able to get some pink flowers donated, and incorporated them into the raffle.

While it is great catching up with friends and families over a cuppa and some delicious sweet treats, the benefits of such a day are what makes it a valuable experience. By raising over $500 we have assisted in helping the Cancer Council spend time researching the cancer, looking for a cure, as well as diagnosing and supporting individuals and families affected.

So through my experience in fundraising, I hope you come to realise that small things can make great differences. I urge you to get involved in a cause you are passionate about, and make your community aware of it, as not only can it be as simple as holding a small morning tea, but it will benefit the lives of so many.
