Put Your Hands in The Air Like You Just Don't Care

In nearly one week it will be my birthday, and as you can probably guess, I am quite excited. For this reason I thought it would be interesting to create different styled blog posts daily, right up until my birthday. Let me know via twitter @_chelsealiz or leave a comment if you have any suggestions for any of this week's nightly blog posts. Remember by tweeting me, or leaving a comment, I will give you a shoutout in one of my posts.

Upon collecting some old photographs to display on the night of my birthday, I found this photograph of me, waving my arms in the air like I just didn't care; and quite frankly, I don't think I did care.

Taken in Ocean Grove, Victoria exactly two summers ago, this photograph embodies some of my fondest memories. You see, the photograph was chosen from many that I cherished. It was from 2012 when my family, along with two other families, stayed in a holiday house.

There's always something beautiful about sharing a holiday experience with your closest family friends. And that was exactly what it was; beautiful. We were distracted from the consumeristic ways of the world. We would sit around the bonfire in the backyard at night, simply telling stories, and just having fun. We would eat and spend most of our time outdoors, only returning inside the house to sleep.

While this may seem quite basic and perhaps a little boring, I can assure you it was far from it. Having no internet connection, and no access to television, encouraged us all to appreciate the alluring nature that surrounded us. We would spend hours at the beach, attempting to jump over waves and laughing as we failed. Though I had little contact with my the outer- Victorian community, I can tell you that it was the best mini- holiday I have ever experienced.

Summer Essentials

I know Summer has been here for a while in Australia, but it feels like it has only started here in Melbourne and I'm loving it! I thought I'd share with you what I feel are the essential items that are needed for this Summer.

1. Perfume- I'm a perfume enthusiast who always loves a different scent. For Christmas my family friend bought me the new Marc Jacobs Honey perfume which is great for those lovers of sweet perfumes, and perfect for any occasion!

2. Sunglasses- For a few years now I have been converted into buying sunglasses to protect my eyes from the sun! I'm a big fan of Ray- Ban sunglasses and as you can see the case above holds a pair that my parents got me from Times Square, New York City which have a colourful mosaic pattern in the classic style.

3. Candles- I feel that Summer should be a time where you have fun and make memories, but also take time to chill out and relax. I love the 'Give Me Some Sugar' candle which smells like vanilla cupcakes and is small, cute and perfect to take anywhere!

4. Nail polish- Being on holidays from school is not only great because of the endless relaxing days I have had, but also because I am allowed to paint my nails any colour I like! In the photo above is a Chanel nail polish (upper right hand corner) that my cousin bought me from Macy's in San Francisco which is a dark plum- like colour and turns a simple black or white outfit into a classy and formal look.

5. Earrings- As mentioned with the nail polish, I am not allowed to wear jewellery other than plain stud earrings at school, so I love school holidays as I can wear any earrings I want! These cute Mimco bow earrings with mini- diamantes in the centre were also a gift for my birthday last year and I love them not only because they're rose gold, but also because they go with nearly everything!

6. Face masks- Who doesn't love a bit of pampering? Well, here's good news. With these Montagne Jeunesse face masks, you don't have to go to an expensive day spa, but can relax in the comfortable environment of your own home! I haven't tried these yet, but I have heard great reviews about them, and especially can't wait to use the white chocolate face mask!

Let me know what your favourite summer essentials are.

Summer Playlist

Howdy!

Today a miracle has occurred because for once Melbourne is doing it's job and it's weather is actually reflecting the current season which is SUMMER! I LOVE IT! Today I spent my afternoon with some friends and we ended up making the most delicious dessert; brownies in a mug. Yes it may sound strange but it sure tasted amazing... Anyway, we then tanned outside in the glowing sun and watched the clouds float by and it was then that I decided the time had come to make a summer playlist. I thought I'd share the songs I added to the list and would like to warn you before you take a look that my music taste is all over the place.

Ain't It Fun- Paramore
American Girl- Bonnie McKee
Closer- Tegan and Sara
Come & Get It- Selena Gomez
Everybody- Justice Crew
Hey Brother- Avicii
Homecoming- Kanye West
I Love It- Icona Pop
Lithium- Nirvana
Pumpin Blood- NONONO
Super Bass- Nicki Minaj
We Can't Stop- Miley Cyrus
The Wire- Haim

Howdy everyone! I'm very excited to say that the school year is over for 2013 and I am now on Summer break. It's such a great feeling knowing that I have no more early morning wake-ups and can now sleep in later. I wish I could say I was free to relax and do whatever I want to this Summer, but unfortunately I do have a high pile of holiday homework for 2014. While this is the case, I thought it might be great to write a list of everything I want to achieve this Summer as next year I will be engrossed with a lot of school work seeing as it is my last year, therefore I probably won't have much time at all to chill out and enjoy myself. As I achieve each point of the list, I will cross it off and slowly, slowly I hope to have completed the entire list!
