August Designer Wish List

It has truly been a while. I hope you are all well and for those in Melbourne, I hope you are enjoying this icy cold weather. I must say, as much as I loathe feeling frozen, winter has benefits particularly when it comes to fashion. Seeing as it is Friday the 1st of august tomorrow, I have decided to make a designer wish list.

As always, there are so many beautiful pieces I wish I could buy. The items are as follows:
Dress: Sass & Bide 110 Percent dress $1100 (image via sassandbide.com)
Clutch: Saint Laurent Tassel Clutch $1350 (image via ysl.com)
Cuff: Resin Cuff $2130 (image via chanel.com)
Shoes: Giuseppe Zanotti Design EUR 1555 (image via giuseppezanottidesign.com)

What is your favourite item and why? Leave me a comment below or tweet me to let me know.

Outfit of The Week!

Hey guys and girls,

Hope you are all well! Last night was my best friend's eighteenth birthday party- yay! So I thought I would share with you my outfit details, and where the inspiration for my hair and makeup was sought.

I bought my outfit from Manning Cartell as I also did for my eighteenth (read about it at http://chelsealizabeth.blogspot.com.au/2014/06/birthday-celebrations.html). This time though, I wanted to steer away from classic, and go for a more edgy and galactic look.

I wore a two piece set. One being a crop top, and the other a long pencil skirt. Both were navy with a touch of silver at the back. In terms of accessories, I opted for the "less is more" motto. I wore nude pumps, with a bangle from Lisa Ho and simple silver earrings.

Upon finding the ultimate hairstyle on Iggy Azalea's Instagram, I was inspired to ask my hairdresser if she could recreate this to a more casual level, and she did! I then got my makeup done, with the makeup artist accentuating my eyes with silver and light grey colours, and going light on the lips with a simple light pink lipstick.

Overall I had a really great night, and I can't wait to re-wear the outfit again.

Little Changes Make a Better World

Have you ever wondered how ethical the products you buy are? Well here is the ultimate resource to find out: http://www.ethical.org.au/. I remember learning about slave labour at school a few years ago. My classmates and I were shown pictures of young children working in harsh conditions. They were taken away from their families and provided little food and shelter. How would you like it if you lived in such conditions? Wouldn't you want the world to unite to assist your cause?

My eagerness to promote this issue was recently sparked by discovering the website www.ethical.org.au. This website contains all you need to know to help make right- minded decisions that are beneficial to the environment. No longer can we blame ignorance for purchasing items that exploit the lives of children and contribute to the near extinction of animals. We must use this website to keep ourselves, our families and our friends informed. Spread the word and together we can all assist in bettering our world one step at a time.

#MEALFORAMEAL

Do you shamelessly upload photographs of your food onto Instagram, Facebook or Twitter? Well either way, here is an excuse to do so. Thanks to Virgin Mobile Australia, every food picture you post on Instagram, Facebook and/or Twitter, and tag the image with #mealforameal, Virgin Mobile will deliver a real meal to someone in need.

For those of you that read my last blog post, www.chelsealizabeth.blogspot.com.au/2014/07/homelessness-issue-that-deserves.html, you will understand that I am quite passionate in assisting those less fortunate. Someone in my life is currently without a home, and knowing that by simply taking a photograph of my breakfast, lunch or dinner, I have the potential to put food on their plate is remarkable.

There are no excuses. If you are tired of always taking, and feel like giving, I beg you to upload a photograph of your food at your next meal. Do some good. Help those who would have no access to a computer, to read what you are reading right now.

Homelessness; an Issue That Urgently Requires Our Assistance

Today I visited the Melbourne CBD to do some shopping with my mum. While completely harmless, I was consumed with guilt as I walked past a sleeping homeless man with shopping bags in my hands. Having been the second time I have experienced such circumstances, I feel as though the universe is sending me a sign. I feel as though I have been reminded of my own privileges of being able to purchase clothes to wear, as well as being reminded of the misfortune of others.

While challenging to see, this confrontation has prompted me to take action. You see, I am not unfamiliar to the notion of homelessness. In fact, someone I have encountered in my own personal life has fallen victim to homelessness due to a drug addiction. While it may be easy to negatively label such people, one must not neglect the issues that they are faced with on a daily basis; the specific circumstances that led to their troubles.

Upon seeing this man asleep, devoid of warm clothes and a blanket on a cold Melbourne morning, I was immediately concerned. I imagined the individual without a home whom I had met in such a situation, and could not help but worry.

In a bid to assist those underprivileged who would not be able to read this blog post, those who may be sleeping in harsh conditions on this cold winter night, those who are isolated and confined due to potential mental or physical limitations, I strongly encourage you to donate your time and/ or money to a worthy cause. I hope to not pressure or threaten you, but rather to consider the benefits of assisting a foundation that supports deprived individuals.

I personally appreciate the work of HomeGround Services in their goal to "end homelessness in Melbourne". HomeGround Services' aims is to "get people housed and keep people housed", something I feel is quite necessary to enable individuals, who have previously been homeless, to attain work, health and achieve a sustainable life.

If you are interested in supporting such a beneficial and inspiring cause, go to www.homeground.org.au/support-us/donate/.

What issue are you passionate about? Leave a comment if you want one of my next blog posts to promote a social justice issue that concerns you and the broader society.

The Ultimate Skincare Product

As you may remember from a previous post, http://chelsealizabeth.blogspot.com.au/2014/01/my-favourite-skincare-products-at-moment.html when it comes to skincare products, O Cosmedics can do it all. Having taken quite a while to build my collection of their products, I recently purchased their 3 in 1 Fruit Peel Mask, and felt obliged to share my experience with you all.

A few years ago, I was a teenager who had hit puberty and fallen victim to acne. I would find myself embarrassed and often teased by my peers about the pimples and blackheads on my face. Finally, I decided to take action and my mum encouraged me to try a facial at my local beauty salon. While it felt great, nothing about my skin improved. It was not until my friend bought me a facial treatment at another salon, that I found my skin changing for the better.

Ever since, I have ensured I maintain the health and liveliness of my skin by getting a facial every month. Lately I have been getting microdermabrasion, which exfoliates the skin on a deeper level, and leaves it feeling smooth and silky. To continue the glow I achieve when I get these facials every four weeks, I decided to purchase O Cosmedics' 3 in 1 Fruit Peel Mask. Every week since I bought it, I have applied it to my face for twenty minutes, and have found it amazing!

O Cosmedics 3 in 1 Fruit Peel Mask

Not only does the product smell luscious, but it is also "free from parabens, harsh preservative systems, sulphates, petrochemicals, artificial fragrances and colour and... cruelty free". The application of the cream is simple; after cleansing the face, apply as a mask over the face and allow it to set and dry. For an enhanced exfoliation as my beauty therapist suggests, simply buff the mask off. This leaves your face feeling velvety and radiant!

What is your ultimate beauty product? Let me know by leaving a comment below, and I will blog about it next!

Five Reasons I Want to Visit New York...

In 2010 I was fortunate enough to fall in love with New York city. Every single moment I was there was surreal for me. As big as the city was, it made me feel at home; I was surrounded by luxury, culture and serenity.

Though once was not enough. If you follow me on Twitter (@_chelsealiz), you would have noticed my recent tweets that express my longing to return to my home; New York. In an attempt to openly admire the city that never sleeps, I have decided to blog about my love for New York.

  1.  In a city of chaos, there are still signs of greenery and life at Central Park. The attraction holds many activities such as ice skating in winter, and even a zoo all year round!
  2. To those keen shoppers, New York is your ultimate paradise. Bergdorf Goodman anyone?
  3. Times Square is the finest place you will ever visit. Have you ever admired its beauty on television? Well the truth is, it is exactly as mind blowing in person.
  4. China Town and Little Italy hold the best dining options.
  5. The options are endless in New York. From visiting Broadway, to eating pretzels along Fifth Avenue, New York can entertain anyone willing to have the time of their life!
